Several commercial products are useful to remove black mold, but many contain harmful chemicals that are more dangerous than the mold itself. Well, there are plenty of ways to get rid of molds without using harsh chemicals. These non-toxic products are also known as green household cleaners.
Here are some easy remedies to treat black mold by using green household molds:
- Use vinegar to remove black mold:
One of the main acidic products is white vinegar that is used to clean, disinfect and deodorize. It can remove 82% of mold species, including black mold both on porous and nonporous surfaces. It can be used safely on most surfaces while its offensive smell goes away immediately.
You have to pour white vinegar, which is not diluted, into a clean spray bottle. There is only 20% acetic acid in the vinegar to make it less effective by adding water into it. Now spray the vinegar on the surface which contains mold and leave it for at least one hour. Now finally, clean up the surface using water and let it dry. Now any smell from the vinegar should be removed within a few hours.
- Getting rid of mold using baking soda:
There is much daily use of baking soda at home, and mold removal is one of them. It’s not dangerous for your family or pets and is used to kill the black mold and remove the moisture that causes the growth of mold.
Take a spray bottle of water and add one-quarter of a tablespoon of baking soda into it. Now shake the bottle to dissolve it. Now spray the surface containing mold with the baking soda and water solution and use a scrub to clean up the moldy surface. Then rinse the surface containing mold with water to remove the remaining residue or baking soda. In the end, respray the surface and make it dry without wiping it. It will remove the left-over mold and will prevent the mold from regrowing.
- Use essential oils to remove the black mold:
Tea tree oil is considered the essential oil to remove black mold because it acts as an antiseptic, insect repellent, and deodorizer. It acts as a natural fungicide and is known as the safest essential oil to get rid of moldy surfaces. It is used to permanently clean up the moldy surface and not allow the mold to grow again.
Take a spray bottle and mix one tablespoon of tea tree oil with one cup of water and shake it to blend them completely. Now you have to spray it on the surface containing mold and then leave it to dry for at least one hour, and then use a dry towel or microfiber cloth to wipe it away. Try must use gloves because, for some people, these essential oils can be irritating for their skin and cause allergies.
